More boot care....

Just got my favorite red wing Irish  setters back from the shoe repair guy. You can see in the before photos how the back sitching and some other areas were coming undone. It totally re sewed them and there good to go. I just gave them a rub down with leather and saddle dressing to "feed" the leather then I we give them a buff as in the previous post. Good as new ...

Looking after your boots...

With all this snow it's time to take care of what's on your feet. I have many pairs of old vintage work boots so I like too keep them in good shape.

What I use is pretty basic. Couple of different show polishes. On the top there is a natural tan shoe polish and then a brown. The brown I mix with some olive oil to make it easier to work with and work into the leather more. I do this layer first so use a color that matches back to your leather. I work this layer over the boot and let is sink in. Then I go back over with the natural and then give it a good buff with a decent quality bristle brush.

Left is before, right is after the conditioning

Again before being treated then after ...

Tomorrow I'm getting another pair back from the cobblers after the leather has been re sewn so I will be sharing that process too

Look after them right and they will last forever ...
